To get aircraft serviced and flying on time, they require a top notch fleet of service vehicles and equipment when they are on the ground. These can vary from tugs, trucks, and scissor lifts to the trolleys and trailers that the baggage gets carted around on.
Working within the Ground Services maintenance department, our successful candidate will be a trade certified Mechanic who will join our long-term team of Mechanics, Boilermakers and Auto Electricians to carry out the ongoing servicing and maintenance of essential equipment.
The ability to be able to weld is paramount, as 50% of your duties will be the upkeep of the baggage trailers within the trailer workshop, in addition to working with the other team members with scheduled and on demand repairs to all ground services equipment. The ability to assist on a wide array of tasks is essential and could be as diverse as changing tyres to spray painting baggage trailers.
To be considered for these positions you must have the following:
Must be a registered and trade qualified Heavy Duty Mechanic (Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering)
Prior experience with Vehicle Body Building repairs beneficial
Be able to weld - experienced with Aluminium welding preferred - weld test will be required
Mechanically minded
Show initiative
Willing to learn and be trained
Have a current Forklift Licence
Be able to pass a comprehensive physical, drug and alcohol medical
Be able to successfully pass a full criminal background history check
The successful candidate will have an excellent attitude towards safety, the ability to work both in a team environment and autonomously and be flexible enough to do what is needed to get the job done safely and on time.
