Reporting to the Recreation Services Coordinator the position objectives will be: Maximise the opportunity for residents to participate in a broad range of recreation pursuits and to utilise facilities. Work with community and recreation groups and service providers to stimulate, develop, plan, organise and deliver a broad range of strategies and programs to achieve an active and healthy community. Increase opportunities for and access to recreation pursuits that meet identified needs and encourage community involvement and the provision of sport and recreation opportunities. Key responsibilities and duties: Recommend priorities for resource allocation and development for future sporting and recreation facilities and services in municipality, based on identified community need. Develop, implement and monitor relevant strategies and master plans associated with recreation development and the delivery of sport and recreation facility and programs. Review and monitor access of specific target groups to recreation opportunities within the community, including older adults. Develop strategies to increase community sport and recreation participation and to increase physical activity amongst residents, particularly amongst communities with low physical activity levels. Develop strategies to increase accessibility to recreation services and programs for people with special needs and increase the participation of people with special needs in sport and recreation activities. Prepare and provide information to Council, residents and other agencies on sporting and recreation issues, facilities and services. To be successful you must have the following: A tertiary qualification in, Recreation, Community Development or a relevant Human Services discipline, with experience in the sports and recreation field. Excellent project management, planning and policy skills. Strong computer skills in word, excel, PowerPoint etc. The ability to work effectively, efficiently and accurately without supervision.
